കേരളപ്പിറവി ദിനാശംസകള്‍

1956 Nov 1... A very auspicious day in the history of Kerala. That's when Kerala was formed. Wow.Very nostalgic about this particular date.

I did my second phase of schooling in Tamil Nadu(Kanyakumari).Obviously its a local holiday on Nov 1. I used to wonder why Kerala gave Kanyakumari to Tamil Nadu? According to me Kanyakumari is a place where everyone wants to visit. It was once the capital of Travancore kingdom. Kanyakumari Temple, Thripparappu water falls, Perunchani and Pechippaarai dams. Chittaar water resource, 12 Siva temples, Nager coil, Marthandam church,Padmanabha swamy palace, Kulachal sea port, wow the list seemed to be endless.. Moreover western ghat starts frm Kanyakumari district.. Those who have been to Kanyakumari should have noticed the greenery in and around the place andI had been to Palakkad quite a few times during my school days and honestly it was not interesting to me .someone  like me who had enjoyed a lavish life style wasnt able to adjust with it. So I was in a great dilemma regarding the exchange.

After my college days, I thought to find out the reason behind it.So I started my journey to Palakkad. Thats the first time I was trying to understand Palakkad and its importance. It was an absolute visual treat with greenery everywhere.. I felt as if I was in the middle of a green sea. Breeze was kissing me gently which had the fragrance of soil..Then I visited Malambuzha Dam, which is in fact the largest water reservoir in kerala.. Silent Valley silently told me the beauty of Nature at its best. What more, that journey was a perfect eye opener for me...Gave me a better idea about Palakkad which is known as the "Granary of Kerala"..

Now, Palakkad is one of ma most favourite holiday destinations. Its a total relief in this fast moving life. You can really listen to birds chirping, frogs crying, breath fresh air, calm and silent place. It always gave me a feeling that I am back to Kanyakumari...

Now, I am not worried about the reason behind this exchange because as a keralite I might have lost Kanyakumari but I got Palakkad and as an Indian I still have my Kanyakumari nearby me.So its a fair deal.

In this auspicious day, let me wish u for the formation of God's own country and lets make it the best place to live in this world...
